With the release of the 2009 vintage, we are proud to present our new collection. Rosamunde, Helle Freude and Rote Wonne is vibrant wine consumption.

These wines with lively, fresh, zesty aromas entangles you to consume. Pure quality of life. Enjoy in the garden, with light meals or with friends.

 

FRANCONIAN MUSCHELKALKCalcareous soil

The Muschelkalk collection shows a large sensory diversity and is a clear statement from the vigneron to the region.

These fruit driven wines, full bodied with elegance. The ideal partner to accompany meals. The most important trait: the soil on which they grew, the wines as the ambassadors of Muschelkalk.

 

BODENSCHÄTZE – Tasting Terroir

MWith the vintage 2009 the single vineyard varietals are presented in a new culinary dress. The winemakers passion can not only be seen- it can be tasted – elegance with vivacious fruit and finesse. Wines with character from the best vineyards in Franconia. The wines mirrors the origin and Terroir of the vineyards.

 

MEISTERWERKE – Great growth

The best dry wines from the cellar, grown on the first growth classified Würzburger Innere Leiste vineyard: A sensory delight initiated from the “Verband deutscher Prädikatsweingüter” (VDP): The new addition to the series is our Silvaner Großes Gewächs. The pinnacle of every vintage with enormous cellaring potential.

 

VINZ – Back to the roots

Vinz – The wine named after the youngest member of the Knoll family, are Ludwig Knolls speciality. The grapes originate from the steep slopes of the Stettener Stein vineyard.

The old vines are over 40 years old. These two authentic wines with independent characters immerse you in suspense and minerality. The depth and length on the palate underline the salty mineral complexes from the Stettener Stein.

 

MONTONIA – Burgunder

Since 1998 the Montonia range is synonymous for the best Burgundy wines produced at Weingut am Stein. The inspiration for the range is derived from Ludwig Knolls daughter Antonia. The range presents itself multifaceted, full bodied with concentrated fruit.

Low yields and the contact with fine pored European oak guarantee the success of this wine. The potential is shown after numerous years of aging, the fine aromas and elegant full bodied finish need the time to develop.


 

SÜSSES FINALE – Late harvest

The crowning to a sensational evening. A wine to accompany every dessert. Rare Botrytis wines: The combination of intensive aroma, concentrated residual sweetness and extracted harmony. A taste sensation that leaves you in awe. Aging potential is unsurpassed.

 

LUDWIG'S WINZERSEKT – Sparkling Wine

Ludwig’s sparkling wines are prepared from Silvaner, Grauburgunder and Pinot grapes. We take a great deal of care in the preparation of the base wine. Body, richness and a fruity acidity are very important for the later quality.

Grauburgunder brut, a vintage cuvee, finely fruity and creamy with a lively Mousseux.

Silvaner brut, a classic sparkling wine, the taste clearly influenced by the shell limestone soil of Franconia.

Pinot Rosé extra brut combined a racy structure with a lot of elegance and finesse.

The wine is bottle fermented for at least twelve months before riddling is carried out. After the maturation period the bottles are turned by hand increasing the angle every day until they are standing vertically upside down. The yeast deposit settles into the neck of the bottle and the wine is clear. To remove the yeast the bottles are dipped into an ice cold brine bath this freezes the sediment in the neck of the bottle. When the crown cork is removed, a process called disgorgement, the ice block in the neck shoots out under pressure and the bottle can then be sealed with a natural cork.
